A Heap of Wrapped Candy

Twist-wrapped candies pile together with round mints, square toffees, and swirled lollipops, each one a different bright color: magenta, teal, orange, purple, yellow, and green. Many pieces sit inside cellophane wrappers gathered and twisted at both ends, the wrapper often a different shade from the candy inside so each piece reads as two colors at once. Others are wrapped like small parcels with a bow tied at the top, or left unwrapped to show a swirled or striped pattern on a round disc. Peppermint-style candies show tight spiral stripes in red, pink, or green, while a few square pieces carry a bold zigzag or a simple grid. No wrapper, bowl, or tabletop surrounds the pile; candy fills the frame completely, piece pressed against piece. The huge range of wrap styles and swirl patterns, all rendered in flat saturated color, breaks the pile into a great many pieces a player could match by shape alone.
