Andean Wool Spinning Workshop

Inside a stone workshop beneath a timber roof, three women turn raw fleece into color. One works a wooden spinning wheel, drawing a thread from a mound of raw wool while carded fleece piles beside her. To the left, another woman stirs a clay pot of magenta dye over rising steam, next to a second pot filled with turquoise liquid. A third sits winding yarn onto a drop spindle from a woven basket of dyed skeins. Overhead, hanks of teal, pink, orange, yellow, green and blue wool hang drying from a beam, and shelves along the back wall hold raw cotton, folded textiles and pottery jars. Through the open window, a rainbow-striped mountain rises above a green valley dotted with an alpaca and adobe houses. Every coil of yarn on the rafter beam already sorts itself by hue for a puzzle solver.
