Antique Doorknobs and Hardware Pile

A jumble of salvaged door hardware fills the frame with no gap between pieces. Round brass knobs sit beside faceted glass ones, and several porcelain knobs painted with blue willow scrollwork or small pink roses stand out among the metal. Oval and shield-shaped backplates in tarnished brass, verdigris green, and dark iron carry keyholes of every size, some still fitted with an old skeleton key. Curved lever handles, strap hinges with round pivot pins, and a scattering of loose screws and latch mechanisms fill the remaining space. Rust spots and worn patina mark the older iron pieces, while the porcelain knobs stay bright and clean by comparison. Nothing here points to a single door or room; it reads as a salvage bin tipped out flat. The overlapping shapes and contrasting finishes already divide the pile into countless small, recognizable pieces to sort by hand.
