Bookbinder's Workshop and Press

A bookbinder's workshop under low beams, lit by diamond-paned windows that look onto half-timbered roofs and a tower. A tall iron book press stands at the left over stacked volumes, with a second press and a smaller nipping press on benches further back. The central table carries a green cutting mat, a printed map being trimmed, a steel rule, bone folders, knives and a row of thread spools in every colour. Marbled papers in red, blue and gold lie in rolls and sheets around the room, ribbon reels racked on the left wall. Leather-bound books line the shelves and the beam above, and a tool cabinet of chisels, stamps and drawers of type stands at the right. Spool colours and marbled sheets carry the eye between all that brown.
