Five villagers in patterned sweaters and skirts fit stones by hand into a curving dry stone wall that winds across green hillside pasture. One man hammers a stone into place while another passes up a fresh piece from a growing pile, and two women set smaller stones along the top course. Sheep graze among wildflowers on both sides of the wall, and more sheep dot the fields near a cluster of stone farmhouses and a barn in the distance. Poppies, bluebells and buttercups grow thick at the workers' feet, and a shovel leans against the fresh stonework. Trees and rolling green hills stretch toward a bright sky filled with soft clouds. Each stone the workers choose fits only one gap, so the wall grows exactly one match at a time.
