Cliffside Fishing Village Harbor

Pastel houses in yellow, blue, orange and pink terrace up a rocky hillside above a small stone harbor, their red tile roofs catching the sun. A bell tower and domed church rise near the top of the village, overlooking staircases and winding lanes strung with laundry and trailing bougainvillea. A white lighthouse with a red cap stands on a rocky point where the village meets the sea, and striped awnings line the quay beside stalls of fruit and flowers. Small wooden fishing boats in red, blue and white bob at anchor in the turquoise harbor, tied close to stone steps leading up from the water. Cliffs streaked gold and green stretch along the coast toward headlands on the horizon under a light-clouded sky. Each tier of houses keeps its own color and its own stairway, so the hillside reads like a set of separate rooms stacked one above the next.
