Half a dozen grassy islands hang in a pastel sky, joined by arched stone and timber bridges. Steep-roofed cottages in violet, teal and coral climb one crag toward a turreted castle; two windmills turn on another, and waterfalls spill off every rim into the clouds below. Hot-air balloons in striped and patterned silks drift past, along with an airship lettered The Skyfarer and flocks of long-tailed birds. Villagers cross the bridges and gather by market awnings beneath a hanging sign for Cloud Haven. In the foreground a gardener in a cap kneels over raised beds of carrots, radishes and flowers, trowel in hand, a stone path curving behind. Each island keeps its own roofline and greenery, so the sky between them reads as clear seams.
