Covered Market Hall of Curiosities

Strings of bulb lights crisscross the wooden rafters of a covered market hall, glowing above rows of handmade goods. On the left, shelves overflow with painted ceramic bowls, jugs and vases in blue, orange and green geometric patterns, while woven baskets and striped textiles hang from a stall front decorated with tassels. A blue banner reading "Maritime Antiques" marks a stall filled with brass telescopes, sextants, ships in miniature, and yellowing world maps pinned to a wooden partition. Wicker stools and a carved chest sit in the aisle between stalls, and crates on the right hold candles, dried herb bundles, framed botanical prints and trays of necklaces. Hanging ferns and potted palms soften the timber beams, and windows at the back let in daylight. Every stall keeps its own trade and its own colors, so a wanderer can tell one corner of the hall from the next at a glance.
