A deep-sea diving suit lies stretched across the seabed, its round red and cream helmet with two brass portholes tilted toward the viewer. Green and orange air hoses loop from the helmet, and small houses with pointed roofs sit on the crown like a hilltop hamlet. Workers in blue overalls and hard hats climb the suit: one tightens a valve on the forearm, two carry a plate along the belt, and another scales a rope ladder beside the thigh. Giant boots with yellow buckles rest at the bottom edge. Around the suit grow branching corals, sea urchins, starfish, spiral shells, open clams and purple anemones, with pearls scattered on the sand. The suit's wide bands of lilac, green and crimson divide the picture into clear regions, each ringed by its own colony of coral.
