Figure Assembling Lantern in Wor

A lantern maker's workshop glows from the ceiling down. Paper lanterns hang in dense rows — round ones in orange, teal and violet, a red lotus, a fish, a yellow star, folded shapes and long silk cylinders — with bunting and tassels strung between the beams. Along the left, bamboo poles stand in buckets beside stacks of coloured paper in green, pink and blue. The central table holds cut sheets, brushes in jars, a glue bottle, scissors and bundles of split bamboo. At the right a maker sits at his lit bench, binding a fresh frame, with pliers and small tools racked on the wall above and rolls of paper leaning below. Each lantern burns its own colour against the dark timber, so the crowded ceiling still sorts cleanly into groups.
