Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Yard at Dawn

Wooden crates of oranges, potatoes, cabbages and mixed produce are stacked in tall columns across a busy loading yard marked with yellow lane lines. A forklift threads between towers of boxes while workers haul crates from a red delivery truck parked at the dock. Nearby, a man in a green coat slips on a dropped banana peel as a black cat chases a stray fish across the concrete, and another worker tosses pineapples onto a tall stack of crates. A worker checks paperwork beside an industrial scale, and buckets of tulips, roses and daisies brighten one corner next to overflowing green waste bins. Someone rolls a cart of cabbages past a small ticket booth where a customer counts out coins. Every stack of crates, cart and puddle of spilled berries forms its own small cluster, waiting to be sorted from the next.
