A fruit bat hangs upside down from a mossy branch, its purple feet gripping the bark and its wings spread wide and patterned with spots and fine veins. The fur is deep blue on the body, with pale green and yellow patches around the face, and blue flowers tucked behind its ears. Little people live on it. One climbs a rope strung along the flank with strawberries and star fruit tied to it. A man carries a tub of grapes near the hip, a girl runs along a line stretched across the wing, and a small crew of cooks slices oranges on a platform swung beneath the chin. Around the bat, cherries, strawberries, star fruit, purple pods, ferns, coral-like fungi and colourful leaves fill every gap. The wings, the fur and the fruit clusters each have their own colour, so the pieces find one another easily.
