Harvesting Countryside Vineyard

Vine rows run in bands across a hillside toward grey mountain peaks, the leaves turning gold, rust and green over heavy bunches of dark grapes. Pickers in bright shirts work the nearest rows, cutting fruit into wicker baskets and wooden crates set along the stakes, while more figures move up the slope and along the ridge beyond. A stone farmhouse with terracotta roofs stands at the left behind a low wall, oak barrels stacked in the yard beside a laden handcart and an open barn. A second farmhouse sits among cypresses further along, smoke rising from its chimney. A stony track curves down through the middle of the frame past a dropped scythe, a small barrel and a spade. Poppies, sunflowers, daisies, marigolds and lavender crowd the foreground verge. Each vine row holds its own colour band, so the slope divides itself.
