Heap of Horse Brasses and Harness Straps

Brass medallions in bright gold cover almost the whole frame, each one stamped with its own small emblem, a smiling sun, a five-pointed star, a horse's head in profile, a heart, a crown, or a thistle. Leather harness straps in red, teal, orange, purple, and blue crisscross between the round brasses at sharp diagonals, their buckles and rings catching the same gold tone as the medallions. A few silver and pewter discs break up the gold with quieter designs, a horseshoe or a knot. Short lengths of chain link some fittings together, and smaller charms, a crescent moon, a fox face, a heart pendant, fill the gaps between larger pieces. The whole arrangement reads as old stable tack laid out and overlapped, so every strap crosses another and every brass touches several neighbors.
