A huge ink roller lies across the middle of a checkered printing hall, its drum swirled with orange, pink, teal and violet inks, and its purple frame carved with scrolls, ending in a twisted purple handle. Three small sheds with painted roofs stand on the drum, where workers stir tubs of ink, test colour swatches on a table and lift a lid. A worker on a ladder reaches the axle at the lower left, and another stands on the handle waving a flag. Mushrooms and flowers sprout along the frame. Around the roller are vats of coloured ink, printing presses, drying racks with hanging sheets, stacks of printed paper and tool shelves. The bright, patterned floor tiles make a regular grid, so the pieces of the picture line up easily around the roller.
