Layered Feathers in Jewel Tones

Long feathers lie diagonally across the frame, overlapping so densely that only slivers of each quill show through. Their vanes are painted in bands of teal, forest green, gold, plum, and deep red, with fine parallel linework tracing the barbs from spine to edge. Thin decorative scrollwork, almost like handwriting, runs along some of the feather shafts, adding a layer of ornament on top of the natural stripe pattern. Each feather curves slightly and tapers to a soft point, and the quill itself shows as a pale, faintly visible line down the center. The colors shift gradually within a single feather, from gold at the base to green in the middle, so no two feathers look quite alike even though they share the same shape. Overlapping this thickly, the feathers stack into a shingled surface with no gap, sky, or ground in sight, each long shape distinct enough to trace with a fingertip.
