A crowded roadside garage stretches under a patchwork of blue and red awnings, its yellow-lined floor packed with parked motorbikes and scooters in red, black and blue. Mechanics in striped shirts and safety vests crouch over stripped engines, test batteries on a cluttered workbench, and reach for spanners hanging in neat rows along the back wall. Stacked tires and color-coded oil drums line one side, while a boy tests a scooter seat and another worker sorts gears on a shelf. A child and a ginger cat hide inside a large cardboard box nearby, and a worker mops up a puddle of spilled green fluid close by. Loose bolts, nuts and a coiled hose scatter across the ground between rubber floor mats. At the front, a vendor serves steaming bowls of noodles to customers seated on plastic stools. Every mat, stall and workbench keeps its own small job apart from the crowd around it.
