Under a vaulted glass roof, a transport museum fills its floor with vehicles. A blue steam locomotive stands on the right-hand track ahead of a carriage, smoke curling to the girders; vintage cars in red, blue and yellow park in rows across the tiles, with a penny-farthing, a motorcycle and small boats on plinths. Airships and a large blue whale-shaped balloon hang from the ironwork beside bunting and travel posters. Arched signs mark the galleries, and two brass propellers are mounted on the far wall beneath clocks and a world route map. Visitors in coats and caps stand behind rope barriers studying the exhibits, one reading a guidebook at the front rail, another sketching by a red roadster. Each vehicle's flat colour block keeps the crowded hall from running together.
