A nautilus shell is cut open from above, its spiral chambers glowing in pink, yellow, teal, orange and violet inside a rim edged with red flames. Each chamber holds a different little world: a domed palace with a red carpet, a curved library with ladders, an orchard, a lively square with awnings, a bathhouse with a pool, a small stage with actors and a row of market stalls. At the centre a silver telescope tower stands where the spiral begins. Giant green and pink mushrooms and a blossoming tree rise from the top. Outside the shell, towers shaped like spiral snail shells in purple, teal and gold crowd every corner, joined by arched stone bridges and a stream. The spiral walls divide the picture into curved lanes that lead the eye toward the middle.
