A huge paintbrush lies on a mosaic floor in a round studio, its tip sweeping up the left wall in streaks of orange, blue, yellow and purple. The ferrule glows pink, and the handle runs down to the lower right in bands of carved pattern, from coral to blue, cream, green, violet and teal. Flowers and yellow mushrooms grow where the bristles meet the metal. Painters stand on ladders along the length of it, one with a brush on the bristles, others with pots of colour. Around the room are paint bowls, work tables with tiles and papers, a tall press on a wooden platform, water troughs and screens hung with finished panels. Concentric rings in the tiles circle the brush and tell each corner of the studio apart.
