A painted accordion lies across a round dance arena, its keyboard end toward the viewer and its dark red bellows folding away to the buttoned end. Workers stand on scaffolds beside the piano keys, and a small round dance floor sits on top of the bellows, reached by ladders, where three dancers turn. Yellow chanterelles, poppies and blue fan plants grow from the coral and indigo casing, and a little workshop with a bench is built into the far end. Around it, tiered stands full of spectators ring the arena, with bunting strung between poles, two circular dance stages and thatched stalls at the edges. The vine-patterned bellows, the key row and the ring of seating each hold their own colours, so the picture breaks into clear zones.
