Painted Arch Bridge Over the Teal River

A tall stone bridge crosses a teal river, its arches painted in patchwork panels of red, blue, green and orange with gold scrollwork and rivets. The deck is paved in spirals of orange and turquoise, lined with lamps and railings, and busy with market stalls, walkers and rows of small houses. Giant pink and yellow mushrooms, orange flowers and a turquoise tree grow from the piers and balconies, and a tiny chapel sits above the main arch. Under the span a red cargo boat, a swan boat, a flowered houseboat and rowing dinghies move along wooden quays, while a cable car hangs on a line. A castle gate, a garden terrace and crowded rooftops fill the banks, and the colour blocks of each arch make natural seams between pieces.
