Patchwork of Quilting Fabric Scraps

Squares and diamonds of quilting fabric cover the whole surface with no plain ground showing anywhere. Polka dots in red, blue, and green sit beside sprigs of tiny flowers, and paisley teardrops in brown and cream press up against bold candy stripes. Some scraps carry a single large bloom, others a scatter of leaves or a repeating tile of diamonds, while a few plain pastel pieces in sky blue and blush pink offer the only breaks from pattern. The scraps meet at odd angles rather than a neat grid, so a striped edge might border a floral one, and a paisley square might tuck under a dotted corner. Warm reds, golds, and corals balance against cooler blues and greens throughout the pile. Each fabric keeps its own scale of pattern, from pinpoint dots to open flowers, which is what lets the eye tell one scrap from the next.
