Ribbons and Lace Tangled Together

Dozens of ribbons cross and coil until no background is left, each one carrying its own pattern: paisley in maroon and gold, tiny florals in dusty pink and green, checked lace with scalloped edges, and thin metallic stripes in teal and orange. Rickrack trim zigzags through the pile in blue, red, and lime, while a length of ivory lace with a scalloped hem drapes over darker bands beneath it. Some ribbons are wide sashes, others are narrow decorative borders no wider than a finger. The palette leans jewel-toned: burgundy, teal, mustard, and plum, cut through with brighter yellow and coral accents. Nothing behind the trims is visible, only the woven, knotted mass of fabric edges catching the light. Every crossing point and pattern change offers its own foothold for sorting the tangle apart.
