Tiny Servants in a Giant Kitchen

Servants no bigger than mice swarm over vegetables built to giant scale in this oversized kitchen. Two crews saw through a carrot as long as a log and wrestle a cabbage bigger than a wagon wheel, while cucumber rounds tower like millstones nearby. Above, a colossal iron range holds three cauldrons, one tipping a river of golden stew down to a barrel below as workers scramble up ladders propped against its side. In the larder underneath, giant hams hang from hooks and a child stands waist-deep inside an enormous soup tureen, stirring with a ladle taller than she is. Elsewhere, crews wash stacks of plates in wooden tubs, roll out dough with a log-sized rolling pin, and haul loaves of bread from a cooling rack, while a rat as large as the workers noses at a wedge of cheese. Every giant ingredient here needs its own army to move it.
