Tuba in the Brass Foundry Yard

A huge tuba lies on the floor of a foundry, seen from above. Its tubing is deep blue with cream swirls, the bell is crimson, and a tangle of orange, yellow and green pipes sits inside the coils with three purple valves on top. Workers in blue overalls climb ladders and walk planks along the pipes: one tends a flower bed growing in the curve, others polish and hammer the metal. A violinist and a guitarist play on a small stage inside the bell, which has pink feathers and tiny blue horns growing from its rim. Around the instrument stand brick furnaces glowing orange, coal carts, stacks of brass sheets, tool racks, workbenches and a quench tank, and a side room hangs with French horns. The colored tubes and the work zones around them give every part a clear identity.
