Tuna Auction at the Fish Market

Rows of massive tuna lie on wooden pallets down the center aisle, their pale bellies lined up for inspection as buyers in patterned jackets crowd around holding clipboards. Near a raised podium, an auctioneer in a suit records bids while workers wheel a cart stacked with crates of shellfish and ice past a spilled puddle. A man wrangles a large octopus with dangling arms beside towering white foam boxes, while a small child reaches toward the stack. Crates of smaller fish and shellfish line the side aisles, tended by workers in yellow boots, a cat slipping between the boxes and a coiled pink eel stretched across the wet floor. To one side, a clerk logs entries at a desk stacked with ledgers, and diners slurp steaming bowls of noodles at a corner counter.
