Victorian Harbor Ferry Terminal

A Victorian dockside town rises in tiers above a busy harbor, its purple-roofed clock tower and glass conservatory overlooking steamships moored at the pier. A large purple-hulled ocean liner and a smaller paddle steamer sit docked side by side, smoke curling from their funnels, while smaller boats cross the pale blue water beyond. Passengers wait at a ticket window near the base of the tower, and families rest on picnic blankets on wooden balconies overhead, watched by porters wheeling luggage carts along the boardwalk. A stone archway and arched footbridge connect the upper terrace to the docks below, where dockworkers move barrels and crates near the gangway. Ivy and purple blossoms climb the timber walls, and distant rooftops and a bridge stretch toward the horizon under a warm evening sky. Every terrace of the terminal holds its own small errand, stacked one above the other toward the water.
