A violin lies at the centre of a stone amphitheatre, its scroll and pegs at the upper left under a thicket of lilac mushrooms and its dark fingerboard running down across a green, plum and pink body. Musicians play on it. A pair of violinists stand near the top, a couple dances in the upper bout, two men with cellos stand on platforms, and workers on ladders and a bench adjust the tailpiece at the lower right. Curving rows of cushioned benches climb the hillside in teal, orange, rose and violet, divided by stairs and arches that hold instruments. The tiled floor is patterned in many colours, with two fountains, potted orange trees and yellow and pink lilies. Each curving tier of seats and each coloured panel of the violin makes a piece that clearly belongs in its place.
