Wasp Nest Cutaway with Honeycomb Streets

A round paper nest, layered in pink, yellow, blue, green and orange bands, sits in the middle of a crowded town. A tall egg-shaped section is cut away to show the inside: golden pillars hold up three floors of honeycomb rooms, each hexagon lit like a tiny shop or home, with staircases between the levels. At the bottom a lantern-lit market has stalls and a crowd. On top a flowering tree and a small pavilion crown the nest, purple vines wind down one side, and pink and green mushrooms sprout from the other. A spiral road with little carts circles the shell. Around it stand domed halls, striped towers, arcades and plazas strung with glowing lanterns. The coloured layers and the lit hexagons divide the picture into clear, separate bands.
