Wicker Basket Moored in the Reed Delta

A huge woven basket lies in the middle of the frame, its gold and dark strands wrapped in red and green rims and bands. The open mouth at the upper left holds a garden: a family stands among planters, a thatched hut and coils of red and violet cord. More people kneel on the woven top mending a patch, and one sits at a small wooden hut with a boat. At the right the round end shows a green and purple spoked pattern. Around it, a delta of turquoise water holds reed beds in orange, blue, pink and green, wooden jetties, bundled reeds, lily pads and rowing boats. Mushrooms and feathery coral grow on the weave. The reed plots and plank walkways divide the water into areas that are simple to follow.
