Woven Ribbon Floral Pattern

Diagonal ribbons of color cross over and under each other in a tight basket-weave, running in two directions to form a diamond lattice. Every ribbon carries its own hand-painted motif: climbing vines with small flowers, a row of dots, a zigzag stripe, a braid, or scattered five-petaled blossoms, each on a different solid background of green, purple, red, teal, gold, or orange. Where one ribbon passes over another, its color continues unbroken across the top, while the ribbon beneath appears to duck under and reappear on the far side, giving the surface real depth despite being completely flat in subject. No two neighboring ribbons share the same color or pattern, so the weave reads as a patchwork of distinct painted strips rather than a single continuous texture. The over-and-under structure of the weave already breaks the surface into long, separable strips.
